Galvanized steel pipe nipples, threaded NPT both ends, in 1/8" through 4" and lengths from close through 12".
The zinc coating buys corrosion resistance on damp, exposed and outdoor runs, which is where galvanized earns its place over black steel. It is not for interior fuel gas: zinc flakes shed from the coating over time and foul regulators and burner orifices downstream, and codes prohibit it there.
A close nipple is threaded end to end with no shoulder. It cannot be gripped with a pipe wrench without ruining the threads — an internal nipple wrench is the tool — and it is the weakest length in the range. Choose a short nipple with a shoulder wherever the layout permits.
Cut ends expose bare steel, so field-cut galvanized should be treated at the cut if it will be exposed. Where galvanized meets copper, a dielectric union prevents galvanic corrosion at the joint.
