ADA insulation and cover kits for exposed plumbing under accessible lavatories: P-trap covers, supply line covers, valve covers and full cover kits.
The ADA requires that pipes under an accessible lavatory be insulated or otherwise configured so a wheelchair user cannot be burned or abraded by them. A bare P-trap carrying hot water is a contact hazard at knee height, and the drain tailpiece has sharp edges. These kits wrap both.
They are also the cheapest way to bring an existing lavatory into compliance — no plumbing is disturbed, the covers install over what is already there in minutes, and the inspection item clears.
Fit is by trap size and by configuration. A straight grid drain, a centered trap and an offset trap need different kits, and a kit that does not fully enclose the tailpiece and the supply stops leaves exposed pipe that still fails. Check whether valve covers are included: the stops are as exposed as the trap and are frequently overlooked.
