Freestanding tub fillers and their rough-in valves, in floor-mount and deck-mount configurations.
A freestanding tub has no deck to carry a faucet, so the filler stands on the floor beside it and the supply comes up through the slab or the joist bay. That means the rough-in position is fixed before the tub is set, and it cannot be adjusted afterwards — get the dimension from the specific filler's template and the specific tub's footprint, not from a standard.
The rough-in valve is a separate purchase from the visible filler, as with shower trim. Many freestanding rough-ins include screwdriver stops so the valve can be serviced without shutting the house down; on a floor-mounted filler that is the difference between a routine cartridge change and lifting the tub.
Freestanding fillers need higher flow than a deck faucet to fill a large tub in reasonable time, and most are supplied at 1/2". Check the required supply pressure against what the house actually delivers.
