Maax builds acrylic and AcrylX bathware in North America. The catalog here covers alcove tubs, shower enclosures, tub-shower modules, freestanding tubs and shower bases.
AcrylX is not the same as acrylic. Acrylic is a formed sheet; AcrylX is that surface bonded to a composite backing, which makes the panel stiffer and less prone to flex underfoot. Maax uses acrylic on most freestanding tubs and AcrylX on the alcove showers and modules that have to carry their own structure.
Product lines are how Maax is usually searched. Exhibit and Rubix are alcove tubs. KDS is the four-piece shower, KDTS the four-piece tub-shower. SS and SST are the one-piece showers, TSEA and TSTEA the one-piece tub-showers. Optik and Lounge are freestanding.
On any alcove unit, three things are fixed at the factory and cannot be changed later: drain hand, seat position, and whether the model is AFR (Above-the-Floor Rough, a raised base that lets the drain be plumbed above the slab). Confirm all three against the rough-in before ordering.
