Sawzall & Hackzall Blades

Reciprocating saw blades for Sawzall and Hackzall tools, in 3-1/4" through 12", with 6" and 9" the working lengths for most plumbing demolition.

Blade choice matters more than saw power. Tooth pitch has to suit the material: thin metal needs at least three teeth in contact with the wall thickness at all times or the blade snags and strips teeth, while thick metal and cast iron want a coarser, stronger tooth that clears chips. Wood blades cut fast but shatter on a hidden nail unless they are the nail-embedded type, which uses a reinforced tooth designed to survive it.

Length is about reach and control. A blade only slightly longer than the cut is stiffer and tracks straighter; a long blade flexes and wanders, and it can strike what is behind the work. Where clearance is tight, a short blade in a Hackzall does what a full-size saw cannot.
