PVC pipe and fittings in Schedule 40 and Schedule 80, for pressure water, DWV, irrigation and industrial service. Sizes 1/2" through 8", plain end and belled.
Schedule sets wall thickness at a fixed outside diameter, so SCH 40 and SCH 80 of the same nominal size share fittings but not pressure rating — SCH 80 has the thicker wall, the higher rating and a smaller bore. Where the two are mixed on one system, the SCH 40 section sets the limit.
Pressure-rated pipe carries an ASTM D 1785 marking; DWV carries D 2665 and is not rated for pressure at all, even though it looks similar and takes the same solvent. Check the print before using drain pipe on a supply line.
Joints are solvent welded, which means primer then cement, applied to both surfaces, with the joint quarter-turned on assembly and left undisturbed for the full set time.
Sizing a run? Our PVC & CPVC pipe dimensions and specifications give OD, wall, ID and pressure rating for every size in Schedule 40 and 80, plus the temperature derating table.
