Press fittings join pipe with a jaw-compressed sleeve and an O-ring seal instead of solder, thread or glue. No flame, no flux, no cutting oil, and no draining the line dry — which is why press has taken over occupied-building, retrofit and hot-work-permit jobs.
The full press range from The House Supplier: copper CTS for potable water, carbon steel for fuel gas, 316 stainless for corrosive and high-purity service, zinc-nickel mechanical for hydronic and industrial lines, ACR for refrigerant, plus press-end ball valves and the Milwaukee tools and jaws that drive them. Sizes run 1/4" through 4" depending on the system.
Two things decide whether a press joint holds. The tube must reach the depth mark — a shallow insertion presses but does not seal. And the systems are proprietary: Viega, Mueller Streamline and MaxiPro press profiles each need their own jaw, so match the fitting to the tool you own, not to the lower price. Seals are not interchangeable either — the yellow HNBR ring used on gas fittings is not the black EPDM used on water, and EPDM degrades in hydrocarbons.
