PVC SCH 80 Fittings

PVC Schedule 80 pressure fittings, sizes 1/2" through 3", in socket x socket, spigot x socket and all-socket — bushings, couplings, 90° elbows and tees.

Schedule 80 is the dark gray pipe. It carries the same outside diameter as Schedule 40, so the two share socket dimensions, but the wall is thicker: at 2" the rating rises from 280 psi to 400 psi and the bore drops from 2.067" to 1.939". You are buying pressure and impact resistance and paying for it in flow area.

It is also the only schedule you may thread. Schedule 40 has too little wall to cut threads into. But threading Schedule 80 removes material and creates a stress riser, so a threaded joint is rated at 50% of the solvent-welded value — solvent weld wherever the design allows.

Typical service is industrial and chemical process work, exposed runs where impact is a risk, and any system that needs disassembly at threads.
