Viega 90230 is a 1/2" MegaPress 316 male adapter, P x MPT (P = press end for IPS stainless pipe; MPT = male pipe thread).

An adapter makes the change from press to a male pipe thread, for a valve, fixture connection or threaded equipment.

MegaPress 316 fittings are the stainless steel member of the MegaPress family, pressed onto iron-pipe-size stainless steel pipe where carbon steel would corrode. They use the same press tools and MegaPress jaws as the carbon steel line.
