Moen 1222B is a single-handle Posi-Temp replacement cartridge.

Posi-Temp is Moen's pressure-balancing tub and shower valve. The cartridge controls both flow and temperature, so a worn one can cause a dripping showerhead, a stiff handle or water that will not get hot enough.

Moen makes several cartridge types, so confirm the part number on your faucet's parts diagram, or compare the old cartridge side by side, before ordering. Shut off the water, relieve pressure and note the orientation of the old cartridge before pulling it.
