Description
Moen 1423 is a balancing spool, listed by Moen as a repair part.
In pressure-balancing valves, the balancing spool is the moving part that reacts to pressure changes in the hot and cold supplies to help keep shower temperature steady. A stuck or worn spool is a common reason a shower temperature swings when other fixtures are used.
Moen service parts are made for specific cartridges and valves, so match part number 1423 against the parts list for your model before ordering. Shut off the water supply before starting the repair.
