Moen 14272 is a cartridge retainer removal tool.

Moen cartridges are held in the valve body by a retainer. This tool is used to remove that retainer when replacing a cartridge, which is often the hardest step of the job on a valve that has been in service for years.

It is a useful tool for plumbers who service Moen faucets and shower valves regularly. Shut off the water and relieve pressure before removing the retainer, and check the faucet's service instructions for the correct steps.
