The 7-1/4" is the framing saw, sized for standard blades and full-depth cuts in dimensional lumber. The metal cutting saw is a different tool despite the shape: it runs at a lower speed with a carbide blade and a chip collector, and it cuts strut, conduit and light structural steel without throwing hot sparks the way an abrasive wheel does. The two are not interchangeable — a wood blade in a metal saw or the reverse is a safety problem.
