Carbon steel press fittings for fuel gas, pressed with a jaw tool and sealed with an HNBR O-ring rated for gas service. Sizes 1/2" through 2", in press, press x FTG, press x FIP, press x MIP and press x flange.
The advantage over threading is time and access: no cutting oil, no die head, no rotating the pipe, and the joint is complete in seconds. On a live building or a tight mechanical room, that difference is the whole reason to specify it.
The O-ring compound is what makes these gas-specific. The yellow HNBR seal used here is not the black EPDM used on water press fittings, and the two must never be substituted — EPDM degrades in hydrocarbons. Confirm the fitting is marked for gas before installing.
Systems are proprietary. Viega and Mueller press profiles require their own jaws, so match the fitting brand to your tool.
