A compression cap seals the end of a tube line, for example when an appliance is removed or a branch is left for later use. BrassCraft compression fittings are sized by the tube outside diameter (O.D.), so measure the tubing O.D. rather than its nominal pipe size. When a joint is rebuilt, use a nut and ferrule of the same O.D. as the fitting. Cut tubing square, deburr it, and check that the fitting size, thread and material suit the fluid and local code before installing.
