Wrot copper solder fittings supplied cleaned, capped and individually bagged for medical gas and oxygen service, in sizes 1/2" through 4".
The bagging is the specification. Medical gas piping under NFPA 99 requires fittings that are degreased to a documented cleanliness standard and sealed until the moment of installation, because any hydrocarbon residue in an oxygen line is an ignition hazard. An ordinary copper fitting carries drawing lubricant from manufacture and cannot be used, even if it looks identical.
The bag stays on until the joint is assembled. Once opened, the fitting is exposed to shop air and handling oils, and the cleanliness certification no longer applies — open only what is being installed.
Brazing on medical gas is done under a nitrogen purge to prevent internal oxide scale, and joints are made by certified brazers under ASSE 6010. These fittings are also used for standard potable and hydronic work where cleanliness is wanted.
Need the tube dimensions? Our copper pipe and tube dimensions cover ASTM B88 Types K, L and M, ACR and medical gas tube sizing, and the joining standards.
