Handheld Shower Sets & Slide Bar Kits

31 handheld shower sets — Delta (12), Hansgrohe (7), Grohe (4), Gerber (3), Brizo (2), and one each from American Standard, Peerless and Moen. 25 of the 31 are slide bar or wall bar kits, bars run 24" to 30", flow runs 1.5 to 2.5 gpm, and spray settings run from two up to the nine on Delta's ActivTouch.

A set exists so the three parts match. A handheld shower is a head, a hose and a mount, and buying them separately means three finishes from three production runs that will not quite agree under bathroom light. Everything here ships as one assembly in one finish. If you already have a working hose and mount and only need the sprayer, the handheld shower heads are sold on their own, and bare rails without a sprayer are under slide bars.

The real decision is whether you are drilling tile. A bar kit fastens a rail to the wall at two anchor points, which on a finished shower means drilling through tile and setting anchors that will hold in whatever is behind it. A shower-arm mount — Delta's 54436-PK is the example here — hangs the holder off the existing shower arm and puts no hole in the wall at all. The bar buys adjustable height; the arm mount buys a reversible installation. On a rental or a shower you are not ready to cut into, the arm mount is the answer.

A slide bar is not a grab bar. Delta's 51600 and the 51900 pair are the only assemblies here designated slide bar / grab bar. Everything else on this page is a slide bar, which is built to carry a shower head and is anchored accordingly — it is not support, and it should never be specified as if it were. Where the bathroom actually needs something to hold a person, that is a grab bar, mounted into blocking.

Height adjustment is the reason most of these get bought. A fixed head is aimed once, at whoever installed it. A bar lets the same shower serve an adult and a child, and lets the head come down to where someone seated can reach it — which is why a slide bar set shows up in accessible and aging-in-place work far more often than the price difference would suggest.

One product here is a fixed head and a handheld at the same time. The Delta RP62088SS In2ition carries a detachable sprayer inside the fixed head, so the overhead spray, the handheld, or both run from a single shower arm connection with no bar and no second outlet. It is the shortest path to having a handheld in a shower that was never plumbed for one.

Flow is capped by law at 2.5 gpm federally, and WaterSense certifies at 2.0 gpm or less; several states set a lower limit, so confirm the local number first. The 2.5 gpm sets here are Hansgrohe's Raindance S and Vernis Blend wallbar sets and Grohe's 27577002 four-spray kit. Most of the range sits at 1.75 gpm.

Sets sit alongside the rest of the shower heads, plus hand shower hoses, wall brackets, slide bars, shower arms and shower trim sets.

Need a diverter? Running a hand shower and a fixed showerhead from one valve takes a diverter; see our Diverter Valves.
