Viega 28740 is a 2-1/2" MegaPressG male adapter, P x MPT (P = press end for IPS steel pipe; MPT = male pipe thread).

An adapter makes the change from press to a male pipe thread, for a valve, fixture connection or threaded equipment.

Viega MegaPressG is the gas version of MegaPress: a yellow HNBR sealing element and a stainless steel grip ring, listed to ANSI LC 4a / CSA 6.32a for natural gas and propane at up to 125 psi. It presses onto Schedule 10 to 40 steel pipe with a standard press tool and MegaPress jaw, which removes threading and thread sealant from gas piping.
