American Standard R422S is a diverter rough-in valve: the 2-Way In-Wall Diverter Rough-In Valve With 2 Discrete/1 Shared Function.

This rough-in valve is installed inside the wall or floor during construction or remodeling and later receives a matching American Standard trim. The diverter function sends water to the selected outlet.

Before installing, confirm the trim you plan to use is compatible with this valve, the supply pipe type and the wall depth, and follow local code for pressure balance or thermostatic protection.
