Sioux Chief 869-S4A is a 4" ABS backwater valve.

A backwater valve lets waste flow out of the building but closes when the sewer backs up, protecting fixtures and floors on lower levels from sewage backflow. Many codes require one on fixtures below the level of the next upstream manhole or public sewer.

This valve is ABS, for a 4" ABS drain line. Match the body to the pipe: ABS bodies are solvent-welded to ABS pipe with ABS cement, and PVC bodies to PVC pipe with PVC primer and cement. Choose the valve by pipe size and material, and plan an access sleeve or cleanout so the valve can be inspected and serviced.
