The Caleffi 548009A is a 2" hydro separator (hydraulic separator) with NPT union connections, used to hydraulically decouple primary and secondary circuits in hydronic heating and cooling systems.

A hydro separator creates a low-pressure-drop zone between the boiler or chiller loop and the distribution circuits, so each circulator operates independently without interfering with the others. Caleffi hydro separators also help separate air and dirt from the system water, making them a compact alternative to closely spaced tees in multi-zone and multi-boiler systems.

Before ordering: Size the separator for the larger of the primary and secondary flow rates using the technical data sheet, and confirm the 2" NPT union connections match your piping.
