Moen 1212 is an M-CORE cartridge, the cartridge used with M-CORE 2-Series trim.

M-CORE is Moen's shower valve system, in which one rough-in valve works with several trim series. The 1212 cartridge comes with M-CORE 2-Series trim and provides temperature control for a single-handle M-CORE shower.

Moen revised the 1212 cartridge in 2024 and the white installation sleeve is no longer required. Replace the cartridge when the shower drips or temperature control becomes unreliable, and follow Moen's M-CORE instructions, including the steps for reversing hot and cold if needed.
