Woodford Manufacturing Company products in the catalog are wall, yard, box and roof hydrants plus repair parts. Samples include Model 17 and Model 19 freezeless wall hydrants and Model 22 hot and cold hydrants with sweat, sweat/MIP, FIP/MIP, crimp PEX and expansion PEX connections in 1/2" and 3/4", in wall depths from 4" to 14", along with Model 24 hydrants, box hydrants and hydrant repair parts.

For outdoor supply lines, Woodford Model X34 yard hydrants are stocked in bury depths from 1 to 6 feet, along with Model Y34 (1 and 2 feet) and Model W34 (2 feet). Choose a bury depth that places the valve below your local frost line. See yard hydrants.

Measure the wall thickness so the valve seat sits inside the heated space, and pick the inlet connection that matches the supply pipe. Hot and cold models need two supply lines. Keep the model number handy when ordering repair parts.

Frequently asked questions

How do I choose the wall depth for a Woodford hydrant?

Pick a length that puts the valve seat inside the heated part of the wall, past the sheathing and insulation, with room for the supply fitting. Woodford models are sold in wall depths from 4" to 14". See frost-free hydrants.

Does a Woodford wall hydrant need to slope?

Yes. Install it with a slight downward pitch toward the outside so the stem drains after each use, and remove the hose before freezing weather so water is not trapped inside.

Can I repair a Woodford hydrant instead of replacing it?

Often yes. Woodford sells repair kits and parts by model number, so note the model before ordering. See hydrant repair parts.
